MacdonaldProducers Stuart Thompson and Jean Doumanian will require "Cock" Off Broadway, joining using the U.K.'s Royal Court to create scribe Mike Bartlett's London hit to Gotham inside a run that opens early in the year. James Macdonald ("Top Women," "Dying City"), who helmed the play in the 2009 London preem in the Court, returns to stage the show Stateside. Production has not been cast and often will likely star American thesps. "Cock" reps an uncommon commercial endeavor for Off Broadway, the financial aspects which many producers deem inhospitable because of factors such as the marketing domination of Broadway and also the reduced potential earnings of more compact theaters. Inside a help to tha harsh truth, though, Macdonald's spare manufacture of "Cock" features couple of set demands and just four stars. Attention-getting title could also attract ticket buyers' attention but tend to prove a marketing challenge in lots of profanity-averse guides. Doumanian ("August: Osage County") includes a recent history Off Broadway, getting created a string of excursions in the Barrow Street Theater including "Our Town," "Mistakes Were Made" and also the current "Cymbeline." Thompson would be a producer on "Red-colored Light Winter" in the Barrow Street in 2006. Theater, dates and full creative team for "Cock" still be set. Contact Gordon Cox at gordon.cox@variety.com
