'Host 3D' bows at Busan fest

BUSAN -- Korean helmer Bong Joon-ho bowed "The Host three dimensional" in the Busan film festival Monday, the very first local film to become entirely changed into three dimensional from the original 2D version. Shingle Chungeoram worked with with three dimensional conversion company Studio Raon, trading $1.two million. Chungeoram did the three dimensional conversion from the pic, while planning its follow up "The Host 2" in three dimensional, that is in pre-production helmed by Min Byung-chun ("Natural City"). The three dimensional version from the pic is going to be theatrically launched by 2013. "I had been concerned about the three dimensional conversion at first, because 'The Host' wasn't planned like a three dimensional movie," helmer Bong Joon-ho, told a news conference in Busan. "But I am pleased with the converted version now for the reason that it can make space perception more lively," Bong added. Bong refused gossips that his next project "Le Transperceneige" may well be a three dimensional film. The $34 million sci-fi film, which is dependant on a French comicbook, will start shooting next March in Prague. "The Host" (2006) still supports the No. 1 position in the all-time local film B.O. chart. Contact the range newsroom at news@variety.com
